Burnley skipper Steven Caldwell accepts his side must improve defensively if they are to keep their fading promotion dream alive.Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Preston has left the Clarets in 11th place, four points adrift of sixth spot with just six games remaining.
And after conceding two poor goals at Deepdale, Caldwell insisted some hard work is needed on the training ground in the coming days.
He said: "It was bitterly disappointing to lose in the manner we did.
"I don't think we are quite getting the rub of the green at the moment, but when you are defending things confidently and strongly, you tend to get that.
"The two go hand in hand and we are conceding poor goals."
