Mon 24 Mar, 07:15 PM

Paul Connor's second-half goal was enough to earn Cheltenham a 1-0 home win over play-off hopefuls Leyton Orient to boost their survival hopes.Former Orient striker Connor returned from illness to sink his old club with a scrappy 47th-minute goal, finding the bottom-right corner from six yards.

Cheltenham created the better chances throughout an entertaining League One encounter at Whaddon Road on Monday.

Connor hit a post in the first half after being played in by Scott Brown.

Brown was denied by a fine block from defender Alton Thelwell and Orient goalkeeper Glenn Morris was on top form to restrict the Robins to one goal.

Steven Gillespie hit the crossbar twice in 10 minutes after Connor's goal with long-range efforts.
