Hartlepool finally killed off any relegation fears with a 2-0 home win over a Yeovil side who are still looking nervously over their shoulders. With heavy snow showers alternating with bright sunshine in Monday's League One clash at Victoria Park it was never easy for either side, but Hartlepool dominated.
The home team lost defender Sam Collins and leading scorer Richie Barker through injury in the first 18 minutes.
But despite the reshuffle, Pools were always on top after hitting the Yeovil post through Joel Porter early on.
The pressure paid after 28 minutes when Andy Monkhouse's quick throw sent Porter into the area on the left, and he pulled the ball back for substitute James Brown to plant a 15-yard shot into the bottom corner for his 12th goal of the season.
Yeovil tried to come back after the break but struggled to create chances, and in the 67th minute Porter slotted in Monkhouse's low left-wing cross to double Hartlepool's lead.
