Frank Lampard is the latest injury worry for Fabio Capello as the Italian prepares to pick his second England team this week.Capello's squad to face France in Paris had already been hit by its fair share of defections - principally among the goalkeeping options - before Chelsea midfielder Lampard reported after Sunday's Premier League win at home to Arsenal that his fitness is another concern.
"I took a knock on my hip during the first half, and it was pretty painful," he said.
"I am still going to report for England duty and see how it is."
There have also been rumours Wayne Rooney picked up a knock in Manchester United's victory over Liverpool.
A back injury forced goalkeeper Chris Kirkland to withdraw from the squad - with West Ham's Robert Green added to the party set to travel for Wednesday's friendly.
Wigan goalkeeper Kirkland played throughout Saturday's Premier League defeat against Blackburn but subsequently reported discomfort, after appearing to injury himself early on at Ewood Park.
Green became the second goalkeeper to be added to the squad, with Tottenham's Paul Robinson called up on Saturday night following an injury to Aston Villa's on-loan Liverpool man Scott Carson.
Of the three initially selected, only Portsmouth's David James managed to come through his weekend assignment unscathed - in a 2-0 defeat against Robinson's Spurs at White Hart Lane.
England boss Capello will continue assessing his players this week as he looks to instil the winning mentality he feels is needed for the World Cup qualifying campaign and beyond.
Capello has been busy watching games since his appointment in December and also had the friendly against Switzerland to get a feel of what he has to work with.
With France providing the next test, Capello admits he is still on a learning curve.
"It is my challenge, but it is a challenge we need to meet together - the players and I," said the Italian.
"This is the job I have set out to achieve, and I have five friendly games at my disposal before the competitive games.
"This is a challenge - and as for every challenge, in order to reach your targets you need to understand where you are going to operate when you need to work.
"At the moment I am working towards understanding what needs to be done - also gathering information on where I can work in order to avoid making the same mistakes that were made before."
Capello showed his ruthless streak on Saturday by dropping Jermaine Jenas and Shaun Wright-Phillips, who scored the goals against the Swiss, from his provisional list of players to take to Stade de France.
Gabriel Agbonlahor, Ashley Young, Jermain Defoe and David Wheater also missed out - with Carson, Matthew Upson and Kirkland ruled out through injury.
As for Robinson, his recall marks a huge change in fortunes for the 28-year-old.
Robinson was dropped from the Spurs team earlier in the season and spent 10 games on the sidelines before returning just before his club's Carling Cup triumph at Wembley.
The former Leeds stopper was first choice in the previous regime until the final game of Steve McClaren's reign when Carson was preferred against Croatia, with England missing out on a place in this summer's European Championships.
Capello wants to help forge a change in mentality from previous years.
"Having world-class players is not enough if you don't have a winning mentality, a team or group mentality," he said.
"There are obviously important players - but wherever I have worked so far, if you need to build a house you start with what you have and capitalise on that.
"The important thing is that
