Lincoln inflict Bulls setback

Mon 24 Mar, 07:45 PM

Hereford's hopes of securing automatic promotion from League Two suffered a blow after a 2-1 defeat away to 10-man Lincoln on Easter Monday. The Bulls looked in control of the game from the start at Sincil Bank but John McCombe and Gary Hooper both missed easy chances.

The home side were reduced to 10 men on the half-hour mark when midfielder Scott Kerr was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Clint Easton.

But City responded in fine style and went ahead within 60 seconds of Kerr's dismissal as winger Dany N'Guessan raced half the length of the pitch before finishing with a well-placed left-foot shot.

Hereford continued to miss chances but finally drew level after 62 minutes when Hooper fired home a low shot.

Lincoln defended well and grabbed the winner five minutes from time after Easton fouled Ben Wright inside the penalty area and N'Guessan converted the resulting spot-kick.
