Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington believes a match against Scotland will be the perfect preparation for World Cup qualifiers later in the year.
Scotland and Northern Ireland have confirmed they will put the finishing touches to their World Cup qualifying preparations with a mini 'Battle of Britain'.
The Irish Football Association confirmed the Hampden Park clash will take place on August 20.
"I'm very happy with this game against Scotland and the timing is perfect," Worthington said.
"There were discussions about playing the game in May but that is when players like to switch off and spend time with their families and take a breather.
"This way it will be after pre-season when the lads will be really sharp and I think both countries will benefit from it.
"It will be a British Championship-type game and that will mean there is a big competitiveness to it also.
"I can't think of a better way to warm up for the World Cup qualifiers."
