Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws has rubbished reports injury-hit striker Francis Jeffers is poised to leave the club.

Reports had suggested Laws was ready to let the 27-year-old go if he could not prove his fitness after picking up an ankle injury in October.

Jeffers limped out of a reserve comeback match recently with a minor reoccurrence of the problem, but Laws is confident the former England international still has a future at Hillsborough.

"I don't know where that story came from but is complete tripe," Laws told the Sheffield Star.

"There is no truth in it whatsoever and Francis has my 100% support. We will look at him and see how he goes."
