Juventus striker David Trezeguet has replaced injured Karim Benzema in France's squad to face England in Wednesday's friendly international in Paris.

Benzema sustained an ankle injury in Lyon side's 4-2 home Ligue 1 win over Paris St Germain on Sunday and will take no part in the game at the Stade de France.

News of the recall has boosted Trezeguet's hopes of appearing at this summer's Euro 2008 tournament in Austria and Switzerland after he was overlooked by coach Raymond Domenech in recent selections.

Trezeguet has not played for France since a 1-0 defeat by Scotland in February last year in Paris.

The marksman - who has 70 caps to his name - scored the goal which won Euro 2000 for France and was also part of the 1998 World Cup-winning squad.

The 30-year-old is Juve's top scorer in Serie A this season with 17 goals in 28 appearances - including the winner in Sunday's 2-1 victory at Internazionale.
