Premier League - Robinho camp threatens Pele

Eurosport - Tue, 24 Mar 19:48:00 2009

Robinho's representatives want Pele to to clarify his position after comments attributed to him suggested the Manchester City striker used drugs.

FOOTBALL Robinho Manchester City 2009 - 0

The Manchester City frontman has already strenuously denied any link to recreational substances.

And now the former Real Madrid star's camp have called on Pele to clarify his position or face the threat of legal action.

Robinho's representatives told his official website: "A formal retraction from Pele will be requested, if what he said was not misinterpreted by the media that published it.

"And if Pele does not come forward, he will have to deal with his very unfortunate comment in court.

"Robinho is upset and disappointed at Pele, who seems to have forgotten the great idol he was and that it appears Pele must be reading sensationalist medias, to come up with such a wrongful statement."

The striker's agent, Juan Figer, has confirmed he is keen to hold urgent talks with Pele to clarify the situation.

Figer said: "What Pele said doesn't have sense at all.

"We are waiting to speak with Pele to make clear what he said because we are sure that there is a misunderstanding.

"Robinho never used drugs."

Pele's reported comments came after the 68-year-old was allegedly recorded without his knowledge at a private event in Brazil, before being broadcast on Brazilian radio and reported elsewhere.

Robinho moved to Manchester City in a British-record £32.5million move from Real on the final day of the summer transfer window.

  4. If all this criticism of Robinho continues, then he should leave english football and not come back. The press will continue to disturb him and this will not allow him concentrate on his game. The press will not rest, because he is the most expensive player in the EPL. If Robinho were to be English, am sure he will not receive all this criticism

  5. Hey guys leave Robinho alone, how about Beckham to LA Galaxy, and dont say he is at the end of his career. You guys just don't like Robinho cos he is the most expensive player in EPL. Remember when Alan Shearer was bought for 15million by NC, where did he take NC to in THE EPL.

  9. Pele can say what he wants so all you asking for him to shut it you need to take a page out of your own book. Like someone else said, there's no smoke without fire. Robinho's a little turd anyway and I personally wouldn't be surprised if he was on performance enhancing drugs or even the odd line. Put him on random drug tests, if he's innocent he shouldn't be worried should he? He gets paid enough not to have any qualms.

If it's true and credited to PELE, the greatest living football legend, then it need to be taken serious. Of late, ROBO has been less than half his best. Come to think of it, his attitude on and off the pitch has been anything but commendable. What with the spat he had recently with Ballack in their match recently. A bit suprising isn't it.

Coke is out of the blood so quickly they see it as the safest drug to take when you might get a random blood test. Why do people react with surprise? Are you really that niave?
