Celtic winger Aiden McGeady could be set for a big-money move to Bayern Munich.
Reports in Scotland claim that the inevitable move of the Irish flyer to one of Europe's top leagues will materialise in the summer.
The Scottish Daily Mail pointed to Bayern as his most likely destination, while The Scottish Sun reckons that Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has been eyeing him.
Both would make some sort of sense.
Bayern currently have Franck Ribery and Bastian Schweinsteiger operating on the flanks but Ribery is a target for Barcelona and the rest, while ageing Brazilian lefty Ze Roberto is more comfortable in the middle of the park these days.
Spurs use playmaker Luka Modric on McGeady's preferred wing but he is also more centrally minded, while other wide midfielders Aaron Lennon and David Bentley have much more joy on the right.
Either way, Ireland coach Giovanni Trappatoni would rather he quit the SPL sooner rather than later. Monkey tennis, I tell you.
Portsmouth midfielder Sean Davis could move to Everton or Bolton even if the South Coast club retain their place in the Premier League.
The former Fulham and Tottenham man's contract expires in the summer but, oddly, Pompey only offered him a new deal in March and the player is exercising his right to let it run down.
"Sean has been offered an improved three-year contract," executive chairman Peter Storrie said in the Daily Mirror. "But I think he wants to keep his options open until the end of the season."
One man who will not be going anywhere is Stiliyan Petrov, who is set to sign a three-year extension to an Aston Villa deal that expires in 2010.
With Robbie Fowler leading the way at North Queensland Fury, more English players could see out the twilight of their careers in Australia.
Wolves captain Jody Craddock is being targeted by Perth Glory as he ponders whether his 33-year-old legs would be able to handle the Premier League in the likely event of their promotion.
The same club are looking at Birmingham's Kevin Phillips, whose decision to leave West Brom on promotion looked more like an acceptance that he could no longer cut it in the top flight than the given reason of a longer contract.
Struggling Newcastle have taken MFK Kosice prospect Lubomir Korijkov on trial.
The 16-year-old Slovakia youth international will spend a week at St James' Park after impressing Dennis Wise and co.

JAMIE (Pt.31) - If you'd bothered to read this article, you would have seen that rumours are that Harry Redknapp has been keeping his eye on him.
JOEBOURKE - stop embarrassing yourself and read the posts before commenting! HAMZEH (pt.27) made a statement about whether to choose england or germany. I Replied (point 29) to it. WHERE EXACTLY DID I SAY MCGEADY WAS ENGLISH? You must be a hun to possess that level of stupidity!
aye John T - realised when I was typing that Larsson cost £600K and Lubo £300K, but I think they were exceptions - point being that Henrik could get £80K a week these days in his prime, and that would surely have tested his loyalty!! The last few years in England have went crazy, wages wise. Goes to show good, cheap players are out there if you look hard enough....
to 'ArryB' - sorry, you know how it is, once you get started......Seriously tho, if you find 3 short paragraphs too much then maybe try a 'book' as opposed to the soundbites of The Daily Star! Seriously.
An English 11 capable of winning THE premier league...
James, G.Neville, Cole, Terry, Ferdinand, Walcott, Lampard, Scholes, Cole, Gerrard, Rooney - with the likes of Owen, A.Young, Barry, Woodgate, Lennon, Carragher etc as backup.
An English 11 capable of winning the SPL...
Billy the Fish, Helen Chamberlain, Titus Bramble, Mike Bassett, Jossy, Carlton Palmer, Beckham (Victoria), Frank Lampard Senior, Jimmy Carter, Stephen Fry and Chris Sutton (mmm... I think he actually did).
If the SPL is so good, why did/do the likes of Alan Thompson, Chris Sutton, Georgios Samaras, Majid Bougherra, Pedro Mendez, Lee Naylor, Steve Guppy (to name but a few) do well there when they were average at best in THE premier league? As for beating English teams well its your cup final... you raise your game when you play proper teams. Its the equivalent of a 1st Division club playing a premier league club. As for saying the SPL is Championship level, I think you play it up a bit... Rangers and Celtic yes... the rest no way.
Darren J, just a quick point. Between them Lubo Moravcik and Henrik Larsson cost £900k. Celtic could easily afford that!
i find the english premiership boring - only 3 teams can ever win it and all the players, managers and chairmen are foreign. It's like Monkey Tennis compared to La Ligue or Serie A. All those players are just there for the big pay cheque. Imagine the devistation of the EPL if the 6+5 rule was brought in. McGeady would be far better off in Germany rather than in Walt Disney's 'Most exciting league in the world' (tm). At least they pass the ball in Germany rather than just punting the ball up to some over-priced foreign striker and hoping for the best. Mikel Arteta couldn't hack it in Scotland but he's a star in England, in fact they may even give him an international cap because they don't have any homegrown players left! So they bring in Fabio Capello to turn things around, but even he can't manage it because only 20% of the players are actually English and none of them are good anough to play abroad. The funny thing is that the EPL is killing the English game and creating a huge gulf between the top 3 and the rest but still they lap it up. HA HA You ignorant muppets are killing your own game.
Darren J... I'm pretty sure, regardless of what you did or didn't say, people don't care enough about your thoughts to read the 'book' you thought it necessary to post here. It might be longer than the actual article! Are you serious?!
Aiden McGeady!!!! They'd be better off signing Edie McCready off of Balamory
after my last post, which was a bit tongue in cheek, I have to make these fair(er) assessments:-
Scottish football IS dire at the moment - Championship level, it hurts to say. Over the last 20 years, there has been times when one of the Old firm have had a poor team whilst the other is good, but both are poor just now. Both Walter Smiths first team, Advocaat's team and O'Neill's team would have done well in England at their respective times. Our best players who have went to England- Ferguson, Hutton, Gordon, McFadden - have been shown to be distinctly average in the Premiership. Although I do think in Ferguson's case he went to the wrong team in style and aspirations. I used to agree with respected writer Gabriele Marcotti that Ferguson was better than Lampard technically, but not now, especially over the last 3-4 years. The pace and power of the English game tends to leave most Scottish players who go there, and many technically gifted foreigners, overwhelmed. Scotland are playing catch-up in terms of young player development - the FA (or Howard Wilkinson) and the clubs were way ahead of Scotland in that respect. The various Scottish football organisations still come across as a small regional lawn bowling association , what with their petty mandates, squabbling, and power trips.
Secondly, I do have a genuine fear that England have a good stab at the World Cup. This group of players should be at their peak, and Capello is the real deal who wont stand for any @#$%. They really dont have any excuses for not reaching the quarters at least, but the South African conditions may be suited more to African or South American teams.
Oh for the days when we could afford the likes of Laudrup, DiCanio, De Boer, Gazza, Larsson, Albertz, Moravcik, Numan, Van Bronckhorst et al to brighten up our fitba......thank god its only a game.
A few years ago the "experts" said that Heinrik Larson only looked good in the SPL and couldn't make it in England. And then he ended up at Man Utd, way past his best and still looked the part. Yes the SPL is useless. But look at England - their fifth best team lose as many goals to one of the Top Four.
Bastian Schweinsteiger move to liverpool fc next season. The new number 7.
Liverpool's new no.7
liverpools new no.7

Okay so the EPL is a good league but if Scottish football is so bad to you english why is it that the most successul managers are Scottish? Is it because they have a great understanding of the game?
John B Where is the best training for managers to gain the badges? Oh right that would again be in the 3rd rate Scotland football academy. What team do you follow?
joebourke2001 yes he plays for Ireland but he is Scottish born and bread.
How can u compare those 2 teams, bayern are meant 2 b the top club in germany, spurs r an english mid table team, bout the worst comparision u could of made.
