WTA Tour chairman and chief executive Larry Scott will step down later this year.
Scott, who took over as head of the Tour six years ago, is leaving the post to become commissioner of the Pacific-10 Conference, a US college athletic conference, on July 1.
In the meantime he will work with the Tour board on the selection process for his successor, the WTA said.
"Now is the right time for me to embrace a new challenge," Scott said in a statement.
During Scott's time at the helm, the Tour has undergone sweeping reforms to its calendar, attained equal prize money at Roland Garros and Wimbledon and he has helped introduce innovations including electronic line calling.

Tomorrow maybe it's another different story and we might be talking about somebody else. But hopefully Nadal will stand for a bit longer now. Long live Nadal.
Larry Scott standing down as chairman for WTA TOUR what a shame.Larry has brought in many changes some for the good but some not so good. Will be interesting to see who takes his place watch this space.
