Wigan manager Steve Bruce has assured his players there will not be drastic changes this summer if they can secure Premier League survival.Victory at home to Reading on Saturday will confirm their top-flight status for another season.
Bruce has been impressed with the existing Wigan squad for getting themselves into that position after being second-bottom when he took charge in November.
The Latics boss made three additions during the January transfer window, with Erik Edman, Marlon King and Wilson Palacios coming on board to boost their survival push.
But rather than making sure he brings in more of his own men during the close season, Bruce will be trying to build on the foundations that are already in place at the JJB Stadium.
"The good thing is that if we can win on Saturday, I can go and speak to the chairman and say where we're looking to strengthen," he said.
"We have one or two targets and the agents are already on the phone so there will be a few acquisitions, I'm absolutely convinced of that.
"But there won't be any major shake-up because I've been absolutely delighted with the standard of the squad I've got.
"We're in the top 10 in the Premier League in terms of form over the 20 games since I came here and I've seen very good things.
"There are some young players who are very, very talented and if we can add one or two then we can keep making strides."
Wigan's first summer signing is expected to be Marcus Bent after a successful spell on loan from Charlton this season.
The 29-year-old striker is the Latics' top scorer with seven goals in 22 league starts and the two clubs have already agreed a fee in the region of £1million.
Julius Aghahowa and Salomon Olembe are set to head through the exit door, though, with the African pair on the verge of joining Turkish side Kayserispor after having limited first-team opportunities this season.
"We sat down with Marcus at Christmas and there were negotiations to make the deal permanent if all things were equal," said Bruce.
"One thing was that we were still in the Premier League and we're edging towards that.
"We'll sit down again with Marcus' representatives and we have done some things with people on the fringe, like Aghahowa and Olembe.
"It hasn't gone well for Aghahowa in particular because he came here with a lot of expectations, and unfortunately for one reason or another, it hasn't quite happened for him.
"We wish them all the best and hope that they go and thrive in Turkey."
With Bruce also set to open talks with out-of-contract goalkeeper Mike Pollitt, Carlo Nash has confirmed he would like to make his loan move to Premier League hopefuls Stoke permanent.
"I haven't spoken to (Stoke manager) Tony Pulis but I'm sure he'll be concentrating on the two games they have got left," said Bruce.
"If he wants to make it permanent, there could be a deal between the two clubs, but it's a while off yet and I'm sure discussions will take place.
"I understand Carlo wants to play, I don't think he wants to be an understudy, and if that's the case and the deal is right, we will not stand in his way."
