Town keen for Akinfenwa to stay

Thu 24 Apr, 02:00 PM

Northampton manager Stuart Gray has confirmed that a contract could be offered to striker Adebayo Akinfenwa - pending medical advice. The former Swansea striker signed in January until the end of the season and scored six goals in his first six appearances for the Cobblers.

He has failed to score since but Gray believes that if he can reach full fitness then he could prove a valuable asset at Sixfields.

"We are waiting on medical advice for Bayo," Gray said.

"He has got a steel rod in his leg and we know that if he had that out then he would be a lot freer and we could get him fitter."
