Bristol have signed Samoan centre Junior Fatialofa from National League One club Exeter.
The 27-year-old has spent four seasons with the Chiefs, but he will now move to Bristol in time for next term.
Bristol head coach Richard Hill said: "He is a very physical player who has that typical Islander approach to defence, but is also capable of punching big holes through the midfield.
"He has been a very fine player now for several seasons in League One, and we feel that he is more than capable of making the step up to Premiership level."
Hill has carved a reputation for making successful signings from English rugby's lower divisions, with Bristol recruits under his direction including the likes of Shaun Perry, Dan Ward-Smith, plus Luke and Tom Arscott.
