ATP Tour - Claycourt Rankings: Djoko drop

Eurosport - Thu, 24 Apr 11:10:00 2008

TENNIS 2008 Indian Wells Masters Novak Djokovic - 0

Roger Federer closed the massive gap slightly on three-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal with his title in Estoril, but the big winner from Portugal - for the sake of these rankings - was runner-up Nikolay Davydenko.

Despite retiring from the final against Federer with an injury, the Russian was able to leapfrog world number three Djokovic and former Roland Garros champion Carlos Moya to fourth in the world of clay.

Nicolas Almagro holds steady at number three despite only defending two of his points from Valencia with a runner-up showing to David Ferrer.

The world number five Ferrer is up six places to sixth after winning his hometown title.

With a Masters Series crown at stake this week in Monte Carlo, the next edition of our claycourt rankings is due for a big shake-up.... Just not at the top of the list, of course.
