Stephane Peterhansel has climbed back to the top of the general standings after a fourth-placed overall finish on stage five of the Central Europe Rally.

The Mitsubishi driver won the second special by 25 seconds from Carlos Sainz (VW).

Spaniard Sainz won the fifth stage, finishing 1 minute 17 seconds ahead of Nani Roma (Mitsubishi) and 2 minutes and 16 seconds in front of Luc Alphand (also Mitsubishi).

Peterhansel's fourth-placed overall finish for the day enabled him to return to the head of the pack, but his lead over second-placed Sainz is just 22 seconds.

Roma occupies third place in the overall standings, 2 minutes and 38 seconds behind the leader.

In the bikes, Frenchman David Casteu (KTM) won the fifth stage after finishing second in the day's second special.

Casteu finished 1 minute 16 seconds ahead of Chile's Francisco Lopez (KTM) and 3 minutes 2 seconds in front of Spain's Pellicer (Yamaha).

Thanks to a sixth-placed stage finish, Alain Duclos (KTM) has moved into third place in the general standings, which are still led by Casteu, who is now 4 minutes and 39 seconds in front of Lopez.

Runaway leader in the truck general standings Hans Stacey (MAN) won the day's only special, 8 minutes and 49 seconds ahead of Spaniard Rep Vila Roca (Mercedes) and almost 14 minutes in front of German Franz Echter (MAN).

The Dutchman now boasts a lead of over 50 minutes in the general standings.

The Hungarian Norbert Nemeth (Bombardier) won the first special of the day on the quads, 42 seconds ahead of Frenchman Christophe Declerck (Yamaha).

France's Hubert Deltrieu (Polaris), who finished in third place, now enjoys a lead of just under 43 minutes over Declerck in the general standings.
