Serie A - Inter tear up Adriano's contract

Eurosport - Fri, 24 Apr 17:24:00 2009

Internazionale have cancelled the contract of striker Adriano after the Brazilian said recently he was taking a break from the game.

FOOTBALL 2008-2009 Serie A Inter Adriano - 0

"Inter announce that the contract with Adriano has been terminated by mutual consent, with effect from April 1, 2009," a club statement said.

The future of the striker had been put into serious doubt last week when his agent Gilmar Rinaldi told the club about his client's intentions to stay in his native Brazil for a break.

The 27-year-old has scored 74 goals in 171 Serie A appearances for Inter but has struggled in recent seasons due to alcohol and personal problems.

Earlier this month, Inter club president Massimo Moratti admitted the club were thinking of shredding up Adriano's contract.

"We've done everything necessary but now the player is not guaranteeing what he is paid to do," he said.

City rivals AC Milan had been linked in the Italian media with a move for the player but the club quickly played down the reports.

  3. And to think Scolari wanted to trade Drogba for him. Thank goodness it didnt happen and thank goodness Scolari is out of Chelsea. Adriano is a waste of space and should stay in Brazil along with his mate Scolari. Neither of them are wanted here.

  9. shame, can be a great player on his day. now Man City will probably offer him an outrageous amount of money a week to join their ever growing list of strikers.

  13. Don't go to EPL or La Liga, look what happened with Mutu, Bosnich, etc....stay in Brazil but if you want to go, Portugal, Japan, or Türkey is your next destination, because you will lesson to be more low profile with many brazillians there.

Say he does come to Chelsea, at the age of 27, give him 2 years to proove himself, and say he doesn't turn out to be any good, who would then want to buy him for more than Chelsea paid? No one me thinks.

  18. this guy does not deserve a contract anywhere.in the real world he'd find it hard to get another job. the sooner these players are treated that way they'd soon buck their ideas up. let him stay in brazil,he has enough money now anyway. all clubs should blacklist players like him. what a hard life he has ,compared to others. it must be hard being paid thousands for hard graft in football.
