Millwall midfielder Marc Laird is thrilled with the recent signing of Ashley Grimes from Premier League outfit Manchester City.Laird and Grimes came through the youth ranks at the City of Manchester Stadium and have been reunited after the latter decided to quit the Premier League club, for whom he failed to make a first-team appearance.

"Ashley is an intelligent player who is good at linking up play," Laird told the club's official website. "He can spot a pass, which is not very common for a striker. He plays the ball to feet and has good close control.

"He scores lots of goals as well and he will do really well at The Den. I have played a lot with him over the last two years and look forward to doing so next season."
