McLeish to look for 'quality'

Sat 24 May, 03:15 PM

Birmingham boss Alex McLeish is in no rush to follow-up the signing of Lee Carsley as he builds a side capable of returning to the top flight.McLeish - who is hoping to resist offers for James McFadden, Sebastian Larsson and Olivier Kapo - has admitted he has been innundated with calls from players' agents.

"It's silly season. I have got agents sending in details about players, I have loads of DVDs to look at. Too many, in fact.

"I am trying to sift through the ones I think could make a difference to this team and club.

"I have to selective and very careful about what I do. I want to bring in quality, not quantity.

"We do have a squad just now that probably needs to be trimmed and if I can put my plans in place, it's very likely one or two players will leave.

"We know that we have to balance the books but, at the same time, if there is someone special out there, the two Davids, as I have said, do have the power to make that happen," McLeish told the Express and Star.
