Scott: Mind games have started

Sat 24 May, 03:15 PM

Andy Scott believes some of Brentford's League Two rivals are playing "mind games" in the transfer market in an attempt to gain an advantage.Scott, who recently signed a five-year contract at Griffin Park, has already signed three players since the end of the regular season in what could prove a very competitive market this summer.

But the Bees chief is sure other clubs are linking themselves with unrealistic targets to try and pass off their club as a more attractive destination.

He told the Guardian: "You do have a little look around and seeing some teams make certain signings does make you smile.

"There are teams out there pleading poverty and then they are signing players on wages several times what we can offer.

"A lot of clubs are playing mind games in the transfer market as far as I'm concerned. You have to wonder where some are making cut-backs if they can afford to spend money on certain players."
