Brentford defender Mark Phillips is hoping to earn a longer contract with the League Two champions.
The former Millwall man is out of contract at Griffin Park and has already been offered a new deal by manager Andy Scott for next season.
But the 27-year-old would rather be given the security of a two-year deal at Griffin Park and told the Ealing Gazette: "I made 37 appearances of high quality and we also had the best defensive record in the division. The length of the contract is an issue. Two years is what I really want so my long-term future is secured."
He added: "I want to stay at Brentford but there`s a long way to go from a contract being offered and being signed."
