Lansbury backs Hammers to shine in EPL

England Under-21 midfielder Henri Lansbury believes West Ham can do well next season as they return to the Barclays Premier League after a year in the Championship.

Lansbury, 21, spent last term on loan at Upton Park from Arsenal and feels Sam Allardyce's side achieved what was expected of them as they secured an immediate return to the top flight after beating Blackpool in the play-off final.

"There are some good players here and they all want to do well," Lansbury told whufc.com. "People were talking about pressure and being favourites for the final and all of that but that has been around all season. I think the lads can do well next year, there is no reason why not."

With the club's finances delicately poised, Allardyce was charged with gaining promotion in his first season at the helm of the East London club and Lansbury is pleased for all involved.

He added: "It is massive for the club obviously as it means being back in the Premier League. It is also massive for the West Ham fans. You know they would have made sure they had a good day out at Wembley whatever happened as it is such a great place to come to.

"But the fact their team won means so much and we are all glad this could happen for them as they deserve it. They have certainly been fantastic in my time here."
