Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale has revealed the club has not given up hope of signing striker Kris Boyd but they are looking at other options. The 24-year-old Rangers marksman was the subject of a reported £2.5million bid that was rejected by the Scottish Premier League giants.
However, Ridsdale has not ruled out making a return for Boyd while at the same time speaking to other potential signings - including a player of "Champions League pedigree".
"The possibility of agreeing a deal for Kris is not dead but we are pursuing other targets at the moment," Ridsdale told BBC Sport. "We have spoken to four clubs about players and we'll hopefully start bidding this week and maybe bring two new players to the club.
"We want to add the firepower that was missing last season and make a good push for promotion to the Premier League in our last season at Ninian Park.
"Dave showed a player of Champions League pedigree around the new stadium and our training facilities at the Vale of Glamorgan on Saturday and he was extremely impressed."
