The 22-year-old, who has been linked with a big money move to several Premier League clubs, has penned a new contract at Molineux - just a day after midfielder Seyi Olofinjana was granted a transfer request.

"I'm really pleased that the deal has been completed," Kightly told the club's official website. "I hope this will stop all of this talk about me wanting to leave.

"I've really enjoyed myself at Wolves and I hope that has shown with the passion in my play. I wear the Wolves shirt with pride and will continue to do so.

"The club is going in the right direction. Everyone concerned with it wants to be in the Premier League and want to be there with them."

Chief executive Jez Moxey added: "We are delighted that Michael has signed a new four-year contract, committing himself to Wolves for the long term."

  3. After all the scare mongering that has been bantered about recently finally - Excellent news !! - we've got to push on for the Prem next season if we're to keep this talented young man and keep the vultures away from the door.
An integral part of the set up at Molineux and key component in our system of play,
I could not faulter his work rate or commitment last season after pushing himself twice to try and get 100% fit and don the gold and black shirt (also continuing to train throughout the closed season to ensure he'll be 'hitting the ground running' come August 9th)
Glad your stopping Kites - and moreso my son who is over the moon!
