La Liga - Casillas denies United interest

Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has heard nothing from Manchester United or any other club about a possible transfer and sees his long-term future at the Bernabeu.

Reports in the both the Spanish and English media suggested United were looking to invest some of the £80 million they are set to receive from Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo on Euro 2008 winner Casillas.

However, Casillas was quoted by AS as saying: "There is absolutely nothing, neither from United nor another club. Neither my agent nor Madrid have informed me of any offer, and nobody has called me either."

He added: "It's speculation, which is what happens when the transfer market is open."

The 28-year-old has been part of the scene at home-town club Madrid for almost two decades now and he has been a regular in the senior side since making his debut in 1999.

In February 2008 he penned a new contract, tying him to the Spanish giants until the completion of the 2016-17 season, and the Spain captain insists he is looking to see the deal through.

"I have a contract with Madrid until 2017 and what I'm thinking about is completing it. Everybody knows Madrid are in my heart and that I'm a White until I die.

"I joined Real Madrid as a child and Madrid is my home."

Casillas also had a message for Madrid fans who might be fearing he could be on his way out of the club, saying: "The fans should be calm, there is nothing at all from Manchester (United) or any other club. I'm from Spain and from Madrid, and that's it."

"So it could be a deal that comes on to our radar in time and one we'd be silly to turn our back on if we could get something sorted with his people."

  3. If Casillas go to Man Utd, he'd have to compete for­ playtime with van der Sar. He's pretty much assure­ a starting role in RM. Plus, with big names coming, his­ job may be easier next year.

    He is always good guys???????? never see him in bad­ shape, this is also big ????????, a keeper conceded 17­ goels in 5 matches, do you think he is good, maybe you­ gonna say its the defenders mistake, i agree but at­ least 6 of them was his, specially with barca 6 2 win­ at his own ground, he was responsable for three of­ them. i dont think he is good or the best now, i saw­ him also very lucky sometimes. although barca took the­ leed but i also dont see valdis is good keeper and­ doesnt deserve Zamora trophy because the defend was­ good not him, but this is spain. Rina is much better­ than both of them, inter keeper is also better than all­ of them.

    I just read in the paper so It must be true United­ about to sign Di Stéfano, Muller, Banks,Zidane,Kenny­ Daglish,Danny Blanchflower, Billy Wright,and Dixie­ Dean, all glory hunters may have to look up these­ names.

  15. I agree Raimo, I wouldn't consider myself a­ madridista but I have watched a lot Real's matches­ this season and Casillas is the real deal. To me a lot­ of top goalkeepers are on about the same level talent­ and ability wise but Iker stands above them all, he is­ in a class of his own...thinking back I'm not sure­ I've ever seen him have a bad game.
