Christian Vande Velde has recovered from injuries suffered in a fall during the Giro d'Italia and will lead the Garmin team in the Tour de France.
The 33-year-old, who ended last year's Tour in fifth place but was promoted to fourth on the disqualification of Bernhard Kohl for failing a doping test, is one of four American riders in the team.
It also includes the British pair - Olympic pursuit three-times gold medallist Bradley Wiggins and David Millar - for the Tour which starts on July 4 in Monaco.
Another of the US racers is time-trial specialist and 2005 yellow jersey wearer David Zabriskie.
Garmin have also included two up-and-coming riders - American sprinter Tyler Farrar and Irish specialist climber Dan Martin.
Garmin Tour de France team
Julian Dean (NZL), Tyler Farrar (USA), Ryder Hesjedal (CAN), Dan Martin (IRL), David Millar (GBR), Danny Pate (USA), Christian Vande Velde (USA), Bradley Wiggins (GBR), David Zabriskie (USA)

What's up with Tommy D? If I were him it would be time to shop for a new team.
The long horn hand gesture is as annoying to most americans as it is to the rest of the world. Especially after 8 years of a certain Texan's presidency (who may very well have lost both elections he was in). As for the back to front baseball hat, that's all good.
Blazing Saddles picks the photos I think.
Garmin seem to adopt a rather strange approach of 'over promise, under deliver' - curious. Every year JV makes bold statements about going for this jersey, that stage etc etc. The cycling press seem to love everything about Garmin and JV is lauded as this technical/tactical mastermind, but where are the results?!
As long as this team is run by a nanny panny like Vaughters I wouldnt expect much.
This will be the first team I have ever seen where English is the first language for all 9 riders in a Tour
lol...really? I found a place that many players are hoo king up with h ot mo dels, seems the club called: __BigTallS Co M___, do you hear this before?
I think the 'long-horn' hand gestures are as much a part of the American DNA as back-to-front baseball caps.
Garmin certainly have a good chance in the TTT, but talk about eggs & baskets - look what happened at the Giro! Garmin ended up looking silly and had to hurridly get rid of a load of pink bikes/kit.
Sean Brinker is dead on - I appreciate Eurosport's cycling coverage, but they regularly choose stupid or simply weak photos. Very low-budget.
I know this is nitpicking, but who is choosing the pictures to accompany the story? Surely they could have found something more appropriate than the "bored, heavy-metal cycling dork" look.
Just another in a long line of ridiculous photos.
Too bad Dean has no one to lead out. I will be hoping for him to get in a good break.
I am liking this team because he have all the potential for good english speaking interviews and some real potentials for mixing it up in the bunch sprints, time trials, breakaways and be doing somthing everydays. Go Garmin
I like Julian Dean, but he doesn't have the raw speed to trouble Cavendish in a bunch-sprint, he'll need to get in a break. Assuming Cav stays on his bike and is well positioned, I just don't see anybody beating him in a straight out drag race to the line. Farrar is getting closer, but doesn't fight for the right position and leaves himself with too much to do in the final 1km. Bring it on - I am officially excited!
Go Kiwi.
Awesome. A 5th tour for Julian Dean.
With Hayden Roulston confirmed for Carlos Sastres team this tiny little dot in the pacific ocean is representing!
Vande Velde will have to raise his bar to be competetive, but tyler fararr looks good for a couple sprints.
Presume Tommy D is Danielson? You know the next big thing? Young American climbing climbing sensation with bags of potential, who's going to take the Grand Tours by storm some day?! Just don't mention that fact he's already 31 years old?! Typical of Garmin in my view - all PR spin and hyperbole, with little substance. They need to start winning some races to justify all the hype.
who is Tommy D?anyway, should David Miller be strong enough in mountain stages,he always target mountain stages every year, but the result is same..eager to see what Dan Martin performance in this year tour..
very strong team for the TTT...should finish in the first 3 or 4 teams...alongside Astana Columbia and Rabobank..
No Tommy D again Vaughters is making a big mistake they should have replaced him for Millar. Millar always say he will pull in the mountains and then he never has the legs to get it done. Good luck to them anyway.
Good for Martin, sux for Tommy D
