Colchester have signed defender Lee Beevers on a free transfer from League Two side Lincoln.

The 25-year-old has agreed a two-year contract and will officially become a United player on July 1.

Beevers, who was Lincoln's longest-serving player, turned down a new deal at Sincil Bank.

He told the Gazette: "I was at Lincoln for four-and-a-half years and it was the right time to move on."
