Chesterfield player-coach Mark Crossley will end his playing career at the Derbyshire club.
The 40-year-old goalkeeper will combine coaching duties with playing after joining the Spireites as part of new manager John Sheridan's backroom team earlier this month.
He said: "I played at Saltergate in 1985 when I was 15 years old in the Sheffield Junior League, and I will be definitely finishing my playing days here.
"Starting and finishing at the same ground is a feat in itself but I will be player-coach as well, proviing competition for Tommy Lee.
"I've done my coaching badges and I start my pro licence this month. I will make myself available as you can't beat a bit of competition."
