New Stockport County recruit Carl Baker admitted the completion of his move from Morecambe ended a "stressful" period of uncertainty. The Hatters had several bids for the 25-year-old, who scored 11 goals last season, turned down because they fell short of Morecambe's valuation.
However, a fee of £175,000, rising to £225,000 on performances, was eventually agreed and a sell-on clause also included.
"It was all a bit stressful to be honest because it was up and down," said Baker.
"When I heard Stockport were in for me it gave me a big lift because I wanted to come here and I enjoyed playing against them last season."
