Crewe Alexandra first-team coach Steve Holland remains hopeful of adding new players to his squad ahead of the new League One campaign. The Railwaymen are searching for reinforcements after midfielder Jake Livermore was ruled out for at least three months following an injury sustained against Wrexham on Tuesday.
Holland - who has not given up hope of signing Leeds striker Anthony Elding - told the club's official website: "We have around 24 or 25 players in the squad and that is the figure we have aimed for.
"We wanted to have a first eleven and a decent shadow side as well. I think we are getting there, but we would still like to bring in one or two more if we can.
"I have to work within the constraints of a budget. Understandably, I need to stick as close to that as possible."
