Goalkeeper David James believes another eighth-place Premier League finish for Portsmouth would have to be classed as a poor season.Harry Redknapp's side finished just behind the likes of Aston Villa and Blackburn last term, but went on to claim FA Cup glory against Cardiff at Wembley.
While most Premier League sides would be delighted to secure a top-10 finish, England international James is setting his sights on loftier targets.
Redknapp has strengthened again this summer in the shape of Peter Crouch, Glen Little and Ben Sahar - and James wants the team to build upon the solid foundations they laid last time around.
"It would be a bad season if we finish eighth," he told The Sun. "I'd consider it something of a failure.
"The team is growing and learning. We now understand our roles and jobs."
