Kolo only has 'mild' malaria strain

Thu 24 Jul, 09:30 AM

Concerns over the health of Arsenal defender Kolo Toure have eased, following the Ivorian's malaria diagnosis earlier this week.It is now understood that Toure has contracted a mild strain of the virus and has been able to return to the Gunners' training camp in Austria.

Meanwhile, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the one player he wants to sign before the new season is a midfielder.

"We will need one more body in there," Wenger acknowledged. "At the moment, we do not have Alex Song who is going to the Olympic Games, Abou Diaby was not here [against Szombathelyi] and nor was Fabregas.

"If we find a reasonable target, then we will do it - but there is no special name on the list. We have some time. We have until August 31."

  1. Why are players malaria(s) always serious to sideline them from participating in sporting activities. But when I contact the sickness I always use it to play footballer to my best. Or their type of malaria is a different one I don't know. Nothwithstanding, Wenger should hurry up. He may see August 31 as so far a peiod, but actually it is not far, it's just close. Just sleep and you wake seeing 31 August. We Arsenal fan here in Nigeria, and infact all over the glove, want class midfielder in the mould of Spain's SENNA. The guy is unarguably good and will perfectly outclass Flamini, and our main man, Gilberto Silva. Oh, may his carreer soar again to an enviable height. Gilberto, I love you and my good wishes remain with you and family always.
