Robins chief on striker trail

Cheltenham Town manager Keith Downing is aiming to tie up a deal for striker Kevin Gall from League One rivals Carlisle United.Downing is a keen admirer of the former Bristol Rovers and Yeovil forward, who is available on a free transfer from Brunton Park.

"We've got permission from Carlisle to speak to Kevin and we will be doing that in the next couple of days," said the Whaddon Road boss.

"He is available on a free and he is one that interests me."

Downing is still waiting to hear whether brothers Michael and Rory Boulding will move to Cheltenham, adding: "The deal for Michael and Rory Boulding is not done yet so it's not a foregone conclusion but we are hopeful."
