Simpson: Shrews are on track

Thu 24 Jul, 04:15 PM

Shrewsbury manager Paul Simpson is pleased with the progression of his side over pre-season but inists there are still things to be ironed out.Town battled to a 2-2 friendly draw against Premier League side West Brom on Tuesday night but Simpson has refused to let his players get carried away before the start of the new campaign.

"You want to win every game that you can so, although the result doesn't affect anything, it's still nice if you get something out of it," Simpson told the Shropshire Star.

"I was pleased with a lot of things - I thought we played some really good football. I thought there was some good play to create the goals as well, the second was fantastic.

"But there's a few weeks before we start yet and we won't get carried away. We'll just keep plugging away and be ready for the start."
