Tevez: Ron should get Real deal

Thu 24 Jul, 07:30 AM

Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez has broken ranks by claiming Cristiano Ronaldo should be allowed to join Real Madrid if he wishes.Ronaldo has been the transfer story of the summer, with the Portugal winger expressing his desire to play for Real, who in turn have made him their number one target.

United have been furious with Real's public pursuit of the player, once again reiterating this week that they have no intention of selling their prize asset.

But Old Trafford team-mate Tevez has risked incurring the wrath of Sir Alex Ferguson by claiming the European champions should not stand in Ronaldo's way if he wants to leave.

"The [United] team has great players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, of course," Tevez told AS.

"It's clear that he is a very important player for us, but this is a personal decision, which is up to only him.

"I understand Cristiano. Every footballer wants to play at Real Madrid. On the other hand, I also think that everyone wants to play for Manchester United, but if what he seeks is something else, I think that should be respected.

"I have not talked to him, but when these things happen, neither side feels good."

  2. If Tevez has made any comments concerning the "Ronaldo" situation then I would say he is playing with fire. This would not go down well with Sir Alex or the Club and until the the Ronaldo issue is finally resolved, the Club should make it clear to the players that they will be subject to a fine for commenting on a contractual situation which is of no concern of theirs. After all, it makes no sense for the Club to accuse Real (Calderon)of making public statements designed to unsettle Ronaldo and encourage or induce him to break his contract, when, at the same time, United's own players are doing the exact same thing. It may be of course, that Tevez is merely "talking up" his own position as a reminder to United that they will have to come up with something for him when the final talks cocerning his permanent or longer term contract with United take place. Best wishes to Man U. Lawman signing off.

  4. Tevez is brave and frank but stupid. It's not his position to involve in the stuff.

It is completely business. Even the club want to sell the player, they have to pretend not, so as to strive for a better deal.

Tevez is salaried to play football for the club but not to interfere the club's management.

After all, it's all about business.
