Sunderland have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Tottenham defender Younes Kaboul.
The defender held talks with Black Cats boss Roy Keane over the weekend and now appears to be on the brink of completing his transfer.
He is set to undergo a medical on Friday before putting pen-to-paper on a contract, according to Sky Sports News.
Kaboul's agent Rudy Raba claimed last week the Frenchman was not interested in joining Sunderland, with Portsmouth also in the running to sign him.
But he looks to have been convinced by Keane and could be one of four Spurs players to make the switch to Wearside.
Sunderland have already signed Teemu Tainio on a three-year deal and Pascal Chimbonda is expected to follow in the very near future.
Steed Malbranque has also met with Keane to discuss personal terms.

To all of those who keep going on about these being reserve players, I hardly see Chimbonda who played 49 games last season and only one of those was as a substitute a reserve player.
Kaboul 29 appearences, Malbranque 55 apearences, Tanio 26 appearences.

Good news at last! I've always believed that Roy Keane was the right man to manage Sunderland, and he just keeps on proving me right. First season he took a bottom of the table side and turned them into Chammpions of the CC Championship: last term he did the impossible, and kept their Premiership status with players with no real EPL experience.
By buying in experienced International players like these four, he is continuing to strengthen the squad, and a mid-table finish in 2008-09 is not an impossibility.
He knows the fans at SOL are real supporters, and that they will back him and support his teamm through thick and thin. With these four strengthening defence and midfield, the most urgent need now is for a quality striker to lead the line.
We don't expect miracles, even though RK has already delivered them by the sackload! Little by little, he will turn SAFC into one of the most respected footballing sides in the EPL.
Yeah, guys, totally. Four signings who could barely make a squad that finished mid-table. Obviously West ham, Newcastle, Middlesbrogh, Wigan and Bolton don't have a chance of Mid-table. With £23 million worth of squad players/back-up players/player who could barely make a mark on the team, I reckon you could get an Inter-toto cup spot. Maybe the season after you'll be chasing Aston Villa, Everton or even Liverpool for fourth or fifth spot.
Steady signings like this will strengthen the squad. Mid-table and beyond beckons. One more quality striker and we really will be going places. Keano is a shrewd manager. He's had the last laugh on Steve (Welcome to the Premiership)Coppell. Where is Coppell now....the Championship... Ho! Ho! Ho!
so far we have had a good pre season, these signings will help us,competition is great for a football team, just bring in doyle, and hunt from reading and we will do ok
Keep going keano ,with signings like this mid table finnish is on the cards.
good signings for sunderland ,they need to keep raising the level of talent in their own squad ,if he gets two quality strikers next ,mid table for the mackems
if that is 4 of tottenhams reserve players let us hope we can get a few more of so called reserve players. Keep it up keano
Steed Malbranque and Pascal Chimbonda were hardly reserves at spurs. I think Malbranque made quite an impact on the Spurs team last season.
keane is making a complete mess of it .buying 4 reserves from spurs what a joke!!!!!!
