O'Brien To Run Three In King George

Thu 24 Jul, 08:09 AM

Macarthur and Red Rock Canyon are set to join Duke Of Marmalade in the King George.

Duke Of Marmalade is a strong favourite for Saturday's big feature at Ascot, and will now have two more Ballydoyle inmates alongside him in the field.

Trainer Aidan O'Brien told The Racing Post: "We are looking at running Macarthur and Red Rock Canyon in addition to Duke Of Marmalade. Mount Nelson won't be running.

"Johnny (Murtagh) rides Duke Of Marmalade, while Seamie (Heffernan) will be on Macarthur. Colm (O'Donoghue) rides Red Rock Canyon."

Macarthur comes into Saturday's race as a genuine contender after some impressive displays this term.

He opened his campaign with a win in the Ormonde Stakes at Chester, and followed up with a highly creditable third behind Soldier Of Fortune and Youmzain in the Coronation Cup at Epsom.

Last time out he justified favouritism in the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Red Rock Canyon meanwhile was a pacemaker last time out for Duke Of Marmalade when he ran out an impressive winner of the Prince of Wales's Stakes at the Royal meeting.
