Blackburn will not be pursuing their interest in Ecuador international midfielder Segundo Castillo, who has recently been on trial.
Castillo had been training with Rovers at their pre-season camp in Germany, but failed to tempt Paul Ince into making a move for his services.
The Red Star Belgrade man is valued at around £6 million, a price tag which Rovers appear reluctant to meet.
Blackburn chairman John Williams confirmed that the club will not be tabling a bid for the 26-year-old and will now be turning their attentions elsewhere.
"At this moment in time, we won't be making an offer for Castillo," he told the Lancashire Telegraph.
"The player has returned to Red Star Belgrade."
There was initial confusion when Rovers initially contacted Castillo, as the player believed a bid had been accepted by Red Star and that he merely had to agree terms and pass a medical, while Ince actually wanted to view him in a trial period.
