Toro Rosso's Sebastian Vettel again topped the timesheets on the second day of Formula One testing at Jerez.
Vettel, who will join his team's parent outfit Red Bull for next season, negotiated his quickest lap in 1:18.843 ahead of McLaren's Pedro de la Rosa (1:19.061) and Ferrari's reigning world champion Kimi Raikkonen (1:19.446).
The German, who was also fastest on the first day, completed a round 100 laps, 22 less than De la Rosa and 24 more than Raikkonen. The Finn tried out several set-ups on the F2008.
Williams' Nico Rosberg was fourth ahead of Red Bull incumbent Mark Webber, who should partner Vettel next season at the team.
Nelson Piquet Jr, who earned his first podium at the German Grand Prix last weekend when he was pipped for the race win by Lewis Hamilton, went ninth quickest of the 10 drivers on the track. He went around 98 times.
The drivers had to put up with extreme air and track temperatures once again at the Spanish circuit.
"It was very hot on the track today, especially in the afternoon, which made it difficult to get a great balance with the car," Piquet said. "The hot temperatures also meant that the tyres did not last too long.
"But we were still able to do some set-up work this morning and tried out some new things on the car, which went well. We now have lots of information that we will go over this evening so that we can maximise tomorrow."

I thought F1 was about finding the best driver? & the best constructor? However it did make me take a double look & a few extra scratches of the head to work out Pique's finish last week also!!!!!!!
proof that nelson piquet is probably the worst driver ever to drive in F! (no disrespect)
who do you reckon is the worst driver from the past decade?
