John Terry is set to pick up a cool £1 million a month if he joins Manchester City, according to reports.
The Daily Mail claims that City are preparing a final bid for the England captain which will offer Chelsea £50m and Terry £250,000 a week, an offer which City hope both the west London club and their skipper find too tempting to refuse.
Even if Terry decides to stay at the club where he has won two Premier League titles, he is set to earn a new contract worth £170,000 a week, restoring his status as the highest-paid player at the club.
Do you think Terry is worth £1m a month? If City are prepared to pay that for a defender, then what precedent does that set next time they go out to buy a top class forward? Is any footballer worth such a huge salary?

Terry is not worth money but his presence at chelsea is more than those money from Man city,
there's still a number of loyal players out there! and john terry is definitely one of them! besides, why would john terry give up being chelsea captain to play for city!? and if he did go to city, he probably wouldnt be england captain anymore! the only players that leave for city are those who are unhappy! and terry is far from that!
its only the news papers that are keeping this going on and on JT will stop at chelsea no body is worth that sort of money its obsene that firemen, nurses, soldiers and a hole lot more people get paid anything from 15,000 to 30,000 pounds a YEAR for saving lives, risking there lives when these footballers get all this money for PLAYING a sport that whilst entertaining is just that ENTERTAINMENT
JT the most honest player in the world ! fact ,he loves chelsea
dont need to worry about jt getting £250 grand a week coz he wont leave and who in there right mind would swap chelsea for man city not one chelsea player so city you keep dreaming. you may have loads of money but money cant buy love and jt loves chelsea and the fans
im a big fan of terry as just about EVERY chelsea fan shud be, but no player is worth 1mill a month. ino we probs cant go on about money, as chelsea did use a bit of money in the past yrs...but l8ly weve been biulding a good club over many yrs. city are trying to make a world class team in ONE transfer window. as much as i wod LOVE to earn 250k a week, no1 is worth that surely. city's owners have more money than sence it seems. STAY AT CHELSEA JT!!
you're right geoff, no footballer is worth £1m a week... thats why they're offered him a quarter or that...
when terry if fully fit, there's no doubt that he's one of the top 3 defenders in world football, so on that basis, sure he deserves to be one of the highest paid players on the planet
however i think that money has got too silly within football lately, and maybe they should start capping wages to £6m per year (£125k per week) as most big clubs can afford that kind of salary for a world class player, and it would bring back a bit more loyalty into the footballing world
putting myself in his shoes, i wouldn't go to city unless they bought another couple of top-draw defenders and a rock-solid central midfielder, and as they're only targeting attacking options (with exception to terry himself) they will fail to get any higher than 5th this year
No footballer is worth £1m per week full stop!
215, Tell me wat good thing J.T has done 4 england and chelsea den
214!!!! Shut ur trap!!!! coz terry is rubbish and joleon lesscott is even better than terry
john terry would not be where he is as a footballer if it wasn't for chelsea, and don't you think he earns enough
207!!!! oh yea hes got no talent.... yet hes England's and Chelsea's captain?? yeah he must have no talent at all ........
206 what a load of mispelt @#$%! who is your best defender ?? i bet you havent got a clue
John Terry is a great defender.. will go as far as to say he is def one of the best in the world... now.. £250,000 a week... for any player?... no way not that much money.
Iy's an insult to the paying public on £18000.00 a year. It's time we stopped supporting football completely until they get their priorities right.
no one on this earth is worth that much
I agree with comment 188 wholeheartedly. Its a ridiculous amount of money to pay to someone to play football.
Why dont we channel that type of money to our ailing health service or to our forces.
no one on this earth is worth that much
206 rhys Vidic is quality but JT is far better than Rio. If City are desperate enough to pay him £1m a month then I guess he's worth it. Aren't we all worth whatever we can earn? I can see City pushing Arsenal all the way for 4th spot this season, and maybe have a chance of winning it the season after. That is more likely why JT is taking his time to decide.
TERRY HAS NO DAMN TALENT FOR GOODNESS SAKE.
