Caicedo ponders life away from Eastlands

Manchester City striker Felipe Caicedo is looking for a fresh start with Sporting Lisbon after dropping down the pecking order at Eastlands.

The summer arrivals of Emmanuel Adebayor, Carlos Tevez and Roque Santa Cruz mean the Ecuador striker's first-team chances are likely to be limited and after interest from Sporting the 20-year-old is keen for a move to Portugal.

"My objective is to play and to demonstrate that I can triumph in Europe," Caicedo told www.skysports.com. "City have many forwards who have arrived this summer and they have complicated my presence."

He added: "For me it is difficult to get in the starting XI at City and the opportunity to go to Sporting would be a personal challenge to me."

  1. giving up? come on you cant class him as giving up he just wants to play football he wont even make the bench next season so a season on loan will be good for him i like caicedo its a shame to see him go, realistically 4 strikers is plenty benjani will go evans has gone and i reckon bellamy will be on his way, everyone says how you gonna keep tevez, adebayor santa and robinho happy will be hard but everyone is underestimating bojinov i reckon with a couple of injuries he'l come out glowing and will be hard to displace him of the team
