Premier League - Tevez double sinks Liverpool

They added a second when Tevez turned quickly to score from close range on 52 minutes after Micah Richards had headed Milner's corner goalwards.
Steven Gerrard hit a post moments later, but Tevez completed the rout when he tucked away a penalty on 66 minutes after Adam Johnson was snipped late in the area by the floundering Martin Skrtel, who was lucky to avoid a red card after an earlier booking.
Hodgson cut a forlorn figure at full-time, but Manchester City's billionaire owner Sheikh Mansour looked content enough after watching his side for the first time since he purchased the club two years ago.
Man City 3 Liverpool 0
Mansour recently took his total outlay on the club to over £1 billion with the signing of Milner and the home team gave him plenty to pore over as they dominated large swathes of the match.
Johnson had a voracious appetite to get on the ball and was just off target from 25 yards on eight minutes, but Barry would make no mistake eight minutes later.
Milner cut a dash into the visiting box before picking out Barry to place his finish low into a corner of the net beyond the despairing dive of Jose Reina.
Barry was clearly in the mood for a second as he drove a shot wide of the goal on 19 minutes as City continued to run proceedings.
Johnson showed more of his creative instincts on 36 minutes when he darted to the edge of the visiting box only to see a swerving shot dip wide of the target.
Liverpool's best move of the half came in the 44th minute. Fernando Torres displayed glimpses of his old self as he fed Gerrard who bundled an effort wide.
Tevez was up front on his own, and was the only man in the box keen enough to get on the end of Richards's header for the second.
With the rain slamming down and only adding to the gloom enveloping the visiting side, Tevez scored his second of the night to kill the game off as a contest.
Torres went desperately close to a goal on 71 minutes when he screwed an effort wide of goal, but the game was up for his side by that stage.
The opening two weeks of the Premier League season has saw a record 64 goals fly in, but that will be of little consolation to Hodgson, whose side are fourth from bottom of the table after two outings.
