Our man at Ashton Gate gives his verdict on last season's Championship play-off finalists Bristol City.

FOOTBALL 2007-2008 Championship play-off final - Bristol City's fans in full voice before the game against Hull City - 0

Have you changed your expectations from the start of the season?

We exceeded expectations last year and as a result the play-offs are the least that most fans expect for 2008-2009. Our start has suggested that we're not going to do a Colchester and suffer second-season syndrome, so I expect that we can achieve that.

Which member of the team would you drop in a second?

Ivan Sproule, although in the last game his performance - for the first time in many months - justified his inclusion.

Who would you like to sign?

An attacking midfielder capable of eight or nine goals a season: Richie Wellens played well in that position for Doncaster against us. Our midfield is bereft of goals: Gary Johnson got rid of Nick Carle because he did not score enough, but his son Lee has only got six in about 120 games and he is the first name on the team sheet. I can't work out why he wouldn't pick Carle.

Who are your main men?

Adriano Basso is a Premier League-quality keeper, as good as any continental goalie in the top flight, while Louis Carey is a tower of strength at the back. Now he's back in, Marvin Elliot is showing his quality in midfield. One would hope that Nicky Maynard can score 15 goals a season at over £2 million; but if Thierry Henry played up front for City he wouldn't score goals, the lack of service they receive.

Which club do you really dislike and why?

Nottingham Forest. They think they're a big club when they were last a big club 30 years ago: they think they're playing beneath them. I don't like that.

Love your club? We are recruiting fans from each Championship club to have their say throughout the season.
