Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has admitted his desire to play in Italy but once again assured fans he is staying at Stamford Bridge for now.
The Ivorian striker has long been linked with a move away from London following the departure of Jose Mourinho last year.
Mourinho has since taken charge of Internazionale which has only further added to the speculation that he could get his dream move to Serie A.
Up until the transfer window closed, there was speculation that Inter could mount a late bid - but Drogba says a move was never really an option for him.
"There hasn't been anything. The club told me they wanted me to stay," Drogba told French magazine Sport.
"As a consequence, I am under contract until 2010 and don't want to fight against that.
"I always said I was interested in Italian football, but right now I'm under contract with Chelsea.
"I am not staying at Chelsea because I have to, but I really want to take up new challenges.
"That's the first time that I didn't win anything with Chelsea (last season). I couldn't leave this way.
"The fact we lost the Champions League final makes me want to try and win it with the lads. We were inches from winning it last May.
"We learnt a lot from last season and we want to win the English title. Winning the double would be beautiful."

all u stupid @#$% drogba haters 30 goals in a season is not by chance or luck you must have some quality and excellent touch,no top club in the world would refuse drogba even if he's on crutches as for me he is one of the best players chelski have ever employed.i would love to see him along side ibrahimovic and cruz because now Inter would have the most potent srtikeforce in club football
he is a good & skillful player...lfcfan
he's a mercenary no-mark.
Drogba is staying at Chelsea as long as he wants to , ( even for now )
Like all the other Chelsea players who have "hinted" that they want to play somewhere else he can go. Nobody in the Chelsea team is irreplaceable. Just hope he can regain the form that made him top scorer in the Premiership .
Go Drogba go!!
quatt47 i dont think your in any boat to talk about "diving" after ronaldos swan lake impression against chelsea when lampard was about a foot away from him!!
I, for one, would be glad to see the back of this cheating diver. He had rthe temerity to criticise Christiano Ronaldo saying that he wasn't a goal scorere. Last season put paid to that. My favourite comment on him came during a televised game when Drogba fell over for the umpteenth time grimacing and rolling about even though a replay showed he hadn't been touched. The commentator said 'I can't understand Drogba, he's the biggest man on the pitch but spends most of his time on the ground. He has the build of a lion but the courage and pain threshold of a lamb!' Says it all really doesn't it?
Drogba is one of the best in the game, you guys seem to forget people all too quickly, just give him time, but make no mistake about it, Man Utd shall win the league.
Drogba is a first-rate goal poacher. a head case, yeah. a big, fast moving problem for defenders to deal with? surely. His presence will always be good for the players around him.
I'm not so sure he does dive. I think he keeps slipping on his greasy hair.
Those who don't rate him are blind. He's a very good player ... but still a **** to me lol
HAHAHAHH I HAVE TO LAUGH,WHO WANTS TO BUY DIDIER DROGBA?JOSE MOURINHO NEVER BIDDED,AC MILAN NEVER BIDDED,BACELONA HAVE CAME FOWARD,SO WHO WANTS TO BUY HIM.DROGBA PLEASE WAKE UP FROM YOUR DREAM,COS U ARE NOT AS GOOD AS YOU FEEL BECAUSE IF U ARE SO GOOD MOST MANAGERS WOULD HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR U,JUST BE GRATEFUL CHELSEA AND THE BILLIONNAIR IS EVEN STILL WASTING HIS MONEY ON U
To hell wit all dem haters.Drogba is irreplaceable in our attack line. This is a fact we can all witnessed wit how shy and unproductive Anelka has been this season already.DROGBA 4life.
Atango,Buea,Cameroon.
chelsea fans need to grow up drogba is rubbish a diver get rid of him n anelka what ya doing with him ha ur onli real player is deco n ow old is he
What are these people generally on. Like virtually all footballers (perhaps Giggs, Scholes and Neville aside) he is just a sporting mercenary who can't believe his luck that he has peaked at a time the football business pays totally ridiculous wages. The man is a pratt of the highest order and I would love Chelsea fans to treat him with the disdain he deserves.
No one is indispensable, its high time Drogba learnt that.
I'm very pleased Drogba is staying at Chelsea. Looking forward to seeing him back at his best again, scoring goals and winning matches. Yes he is high maintenance, like Steve D says, he needs a lot of TLC, but he's also extremely talented so worth the effort.
Go Drog, you are the best, you just have to believe it yourself.
dumb fecker, of course he is staying "for now" the transfer markets closed so he cant go anywhere, not only that he is @#$% and no top 5 team anywhere else would want him, overrated diver. Anelkas alot better, even Kalou through the middle i would prefer, its strange how many headers Kalou actually scores!
mY FELLOW FANS AS WE CAN SEE DROGBA IS VERY IMPORTANT IN THE RACE.I KNOW HE WILL STILL MEET UP.IS OUR NUMBER ONE STRICKER YOU CAN COMPARE HIM WITH ANELKAOR OTHERS.THANKS EBENEZER ILAWE EKITI NIGERIA
drogba ive said 4 yrs is a bully he's not a footballer so was only gud when we played under mourinho, now scolaris here drogbas no gud in a footballing side sell him id rather hav anelka u watch anelka go this season, drogba stayed because no-1 wanted him bye bye didi and give us all a break from ur constant moanin u aint that gud
drogs is not that good, heskey on his day is a better player, what all the fuss about?
