The much-travelled 38-year-old has recently regained his place in the Gills' starting line-up at the expense of Alan Julian and is determined to prolong his career.

He told BBC Radio Kent: "I'd love to play until I'm 40. I don't really see why not as long as I can still do it.

"I do think I can still play. As long as somebody offers me a new deal I will keep playing. Another two years and then we will see."

Meanwhile the Gills are looking for a new chief executive after Mark Jones left Priestfield after less than a year-and-a-half in the post.

  1. Should make it an extra year, like the Leeds score 4-1.
