Ferrari happy with driving line-up

Eurosport - Fri, 24 Oct 11:24:00 2008

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has reiterated that the Scuderia is "very happy" with its driving line-up of Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen.

FORMULA 1 2008 Chinese GP Ferrari Massa Räikkönen - 0

Raikkonen has displayed indifferent form for much of the 2008 Formula One campaign after winning the laurels for the first time in 2007.

It was suggested to Di Montezemolo that, in light of Fernando Alonso's superb showings of late in the Renault, perhaps Maranello had got the wrong combination for 2009.

The Italian, however, is adamant that the Prancing Horse has the right men to put them at the top of the F1 tree next year.

"These types of thoughts we had four years ago," Di Montezemolo told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "Now we are very happy.

"We are working on the title with a different driver to our champion of last year, and both of them are delivering to us the manufacturers' title.

"If there is one aspect with which we have no problems, it is our drivers. When Raikkonen was having a difficult time in the second part of the season, Massa was in extraordinary form."

Last month, Massa revealed that he and Raikkonen are not friends away from the circuit and have "no private relationship", stating: "If we are together in a meeting, when it is finished he opens the door and is gone."

  1. PASQ - 9 times out of 10, Ferrari are the team to beat, but even you have to admit that they have been tarnished by the FIA's favoritism towards them.

Good team, good drivers, but will always be seen as having an unfair advantage over their competitors.

  3. for the record Not Printable, its the russains who drink vodka, and if the finns are so bad why did raikkonon win last season, and why did mika hakkenen win the championship twice? to be very honest, from the way you are writing , it gives the inpresion that you are drinking vodka at this moment in time. and another thing, ferarri will win this season and next, the drivers are not the nest, but the quickest, and EACH driver is given the equal opputunity. unlike at maclaren

  6. Now that the Ferrari President has publicly stated the he is perfectly happy with his drivers and not interested in Alonso, will FA still be so happy to help Massa win the Title?

  7. Paul t: Stepney and Coughlan are being investigated by the Italians and the case is therefore 'sub judice' They cannot say anything to anyone. Legal cases in Italy take an average of TWO years to come to court so don't expect anything soon. Remamber, the case against the Williams team for causing the death of Senna took FIVE years ( or was it TEN).
