Frizzell treble nails Nairn

Elgin advanced to the third round of the Active Nation Scottish Cup with a 4-2 victory at Highland League side Nairn County.

The visitors took the lead after four minutes when Craig Frizzell was unmarked at the back post to head home.

Frizzell then doubled Elgin's lead when he was free to run onto a Steven Edwards ball forward before sliding the ball home and he grabbed his hat-trick from the penalty spot after 51 minutes after Graham Tatters had been fouled by David Hind.

Nairn pulled one back 13 minutes later, however, when Willie Barron headed home a Steven Mackay cross.

The hosts cut the deficit to one when Craig Campbell fizzed home a 20-yard drive after 70 minutes but Elgin made sure of their progress just a minute later when Jason Crooks netted from the penalty spot.
