Victoria Azarenka of thrashed Romanian Monica Niculescu 6-2 6-2 in an hour and a quarter to claim her third title of the season in Luxembourg.

The Belarusian dominated against serve, winning 62 per cent of return points while breaking the Romanian six times.

World number three Azarenka completed the tournament without dropping a set.

It is her eighth career title.

A win for world number 34 Niculescu in her first WTA Tour final would have qualified her for the Tournament of Champions in Bali in November.
