New signing Luke McAlister helped Sale to their first away win for over a year in the Guinness Premiership with a 34-15 bonus-point victory over bottom side Worcester.

All Black McAlister (pictured) was on target with three penalties on an evening when Sale scored tries through Rory Lamont, Mark Cueto, Ben Foden and Dean Schofield at the death.

Worcester skipper Pat Sanderson touched down twice, but the Warriors were always behind on the scoreboard and rarely looked like recording their first win from seven league games this season.

McAlister gave more than enough evidence to suggest he will be a real force in the Premiership throughout the two years of his Sale contract.

The 24-year-old made a number of useful carries, distributed well and was comfortable interchanging the first-receiver role with England fly-half Charlie Hodgson.

Furthermore, when Hodgson asked him to take over kicking duties in the last quarter of the game, he comfortably slotted three from four efforts on goal, including a huge penalty from 50m.

McAlister also had a hand in Lamont's try after just four minutes. The New Zealander showed good strength to offload to the outstanding Lee Thomas, who made some useful yards before finding Lamont and the Scotland wing burst free for a superb try.

Ten minutes later Thomas again broke the Warriors line and when the ball was recycled Hodgson found Cueto with an inch-perfect cross kick and the England wing stretched over to score.

Shane Drahm cancelled out an earlier Hodgson penalty to make it 15-3 at the break.

Worcester clearly needed to score next but it was the visitors who extended their lead 16 minutes after the restart when the ball was moved to man-of-the-match Foden on the right wing.

The full-back-cum-scrum-half first beat Thinus Delport on the outside before dancing inside the final cover tackle to go over for a superb individual score.

When England prop Andrew Sheridan was sin-binned for a late tackle on Delport just after the hour, Worcester kicked for the corner to set up Sanderson's first try.

McAlister kept the scoreboard ticking over for the visitors despite Sanderson touching down again 10 minutes later.

Sale made sure of the bonus point when they won a lineout inside the Warriors 22m area in the final minute and Schofield broke free from the ensuing drive to dive over.
