A quick look at how those teams set to face English opposition in the next round of Champions League matches got on at the weekend.
Bordeaux (home to Chelsea - 26 November)
Bordeaux 1-1 Rennes
Yoann Gourcuff (pictured) swooped to win a point for Bordeaux at home to Rennes. The young France international levelled just before the hour to cancel Olivier Thomert's opener for high-flying Rennes. Laurent Blanc's side ended the weekend in sixth, 13 points off the pace set by leaders and champions Lyon.
Marseille (away to Liverpool - 26 November)
Marseille 2-2 Lille
Marseille needed former Liverpool man Boudewijn Zenden to score a last minute free-kick to earn a 2-2 draw with Lille. Marseille were 2-0 down at the Velodrome with Adil Rami opening the scoring after 10 minutes and Michel Bastos adding the second in the 36th. Mamadou Samassa got them back into it just after the break before Zenden sealed the late point. Marseille are third in the French first division, six points behind leaders Lyon
Villarreal (home to Manchester United - 25 November)
Villarreal 0-3 Valladolid
Villarreal lost their unbeaten record as they crashed to a shock 3-0 defeat at home to Valladolid. Manuel Pellegrini's side came into this game as the only remaining unbeaten side in the league, but were unable to recover from conceding three first-half goals. Jonathan Sesma (2) and Luis Prieto got the goals for the visitors as Villarreal dropped to third position in the table.
Aalborg (home to Celtic - 25 November)
Vejle Boldklub 0-3 AaB Aalborg
The Danish champions have been lingering in mid-table all season but they enjoyed a good 3-0 victory over second from bottom side Vejle Boldklub at the weekend. Kasper Risgard, Patrick Kristensen and Andreas Johansson got the goals.
Dynamo Kiev (away to Arsenal - 25 November)
No game
Kiev's match with Illitchivets Mariupol was postponed meaning that Kiev will have had nine days to get ready for the Arsenal match. Kiev are three points clear at the top of the Ukrainian league table with a game in hand although they lost their last match 1-0 at Shakhtar.
